Hi! My name is Henry. I'm 9 years old and I have been learning to kayak and canoe since I was 3-1/2 years old. I say learning because you never stop learning in this sport, and it is not always about kayaking. You learn about places, cultures, people, and life. It is the greatest sport in the world to me and I am happy to be a student of it.
| My Dad got
me started in this sport after I begged him to find a boat
that would fit me. The choice he and I both made one day was
the Jackson Fun 1. It was the first kayak really designed
for kids by World Champion Freestyle kayaker, Eric Jackson. It took me a while to get the basics down, like rolling and wet exits. When you're not even 4 years old, this stuff looks cool, but it is scary when you have to do it. I'm now 9 years old and it seems like ancient history to me. I compete locally, regionally, and nationally in Slalom, Freestyle, and Wildwater racing. I am currently the top-ranked K1 Men's Cub-Cadet in Whitewater Slalom, and ranked 43rd overall across all classes in K1 Men's Slalom. |

I was born and raised in Colorado and I am proud to be a Native Coloradoan. But I live in Texas now and I am equally as proud to be an adopted Texan in the Great State of Texas. The nice thing about living here is that I get to train in mild conditions when the rest of the paddling world in the USA is frozen!

Please join me and help fund our younger athletes.
This sport is not the most expensive, but it is not the cheapest either. Boats and other gear, plus the costs of travel to races so that we may one day grace the Olympic stage all adds up quickly.
You can help myself and others like me by your generous donations to
the racing teams we compete for.
Sponsorship by your company is another way you help fund the dreams of young athletes. The US Government, unlike other countries, does not fund their athletes in any shaoe or form.
